The Yarniacs: A Knitting Podcast

Gayle and Sharlene search for the ever-elusive perfect yarn for the perfect project. The Yarniacs Podcast is an audio podcast coming to you from the coast of California. Join us!

The perfect yarn.

Does such a thing exist? Every knitter has a favorite yarn. But every knitter knows that their perfect yarn is not perfect for every project. So we knitters tend to hold dear several favorite yarns. We have a perfect sock yarn. Or a perfect wool blend. A perfect yarn for outerwear. Sometimes even one skein of too-precious-to-use perfectly dyed yarn. (You know you have one!)

Once you have the perfect yarn though, you need an accompanying perfect project. But the perfect project is a dynamic concept--always changing and occasionally slipping away. Varying styles, colors, and seasons come into play. So the search is always on.

But we are willing to accept the challenge. The constant search for the perfect yarn, matched with the perfect project. Who are we? Two knitting besties in search of the perfect yarn. Bring it!

Greetings fellow Yarniacs! This episode Gayle and I welcome a special guest to the podcast. We are thrilled to share a chat with Benjamin Levisay. Benjamin Levisay is the CEO of XRX, Inc., the family-owned business that brings us Knitter's Magazine, XRX Books, and the STITCHES Expos.

Benjamin shares the humble beginnings of the family yarn shop and his memories of weaving on his dad's looms, to how during a family outing at a local pizza joint his uncle suggested the family start their own magazine. Because really, how hard could that be? And so, a new chapter of the family business was born. If you have attended a STITCHES Expo, cracked open an XRX book, or studied the pages of Knitter's Magazine, you will appreciate the care and attention to detail XRX places on each pattern, each page, each Expo attendee.

We are preparing our shopping lists and expectations for attending the upcoming STITCHES West 2013 and hope this brief chat will enlighten and hopefully inspire you to check out the magazine, a new book, or the Expos from XRX.
